Plantar Wart Treatment

A plantar wart is a wart occurring on the bottom of the foot or toes.
Their color is typically similar to that of the skin. Small black dots often occur on the surface. One or more may occur in an area. They may result in pain with pressure such that walking is difficult.

    Hard, grainy growths that appear on the heels or balls of the feet.
    Spreads easily.
    Usually self-treatable.
    Usually self-diagnosable.
    Lab tests or imaging rarely required.

How it spreads:
    By skin-to-skin contact (handshakes or hugs).
    By touching a contaminated surface (blanket or doorknob).



Medium-term: resolves within months:
    Plantar warts are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV).
    The warts are hard, grainy or fleshy growths that can be painful.
    Treatments include over-the-counter remedies, salicylic acid, freezing medicine or surgery.
