Painful & Cracked Heels

Heel pain is a general term used to describe pain and discomfort experienced anywhere in or around the rear of the foot.

Cracked heels is a common health problem and it may cause infections. It is caused by dryness of the foot skin, and accumulation of dead skin. Over time it may cause pain and irritations. Various moisturizing creams and foot files are available to cure and prevent it.

Heel fissures can affect anyone, but risk factors include:

Living in a dry climate, obesity, consistently walking barefoot or wearing sandals or open-backed shoes, and inactive sweat glands.
Like many foot conditions, heel fissures can become more dangerous if they go untreated and become deep or infected. This is especially dangerous for people with diabetes or compromised immune systems.
